The Future is Plastics!

In today's economy there are few business sectors as optimistic as the plastics industry.

The demand for plastics and especially StandUp pouches in one of 9 configurations is expected to outpace GDP growth over the next few years throughout world markets.

A big reason is getting more food from the farms to the stores (more packaging needed) and the huge emphasis on the organic food chain. The pouch industry requires a low capital structure and with this small entry barrier there are dozens of suppliers compared to the glass or cans segment with a handful of suppliers and major capital costs.

Plastic film structures can extend product shelf life from days to weeks and thus keep food from going bad and feed more people. Light weighting and stronger specifications still do the job and meet all sustainable objectives.

The pouch is considered a modern package and can be incinerated with full energy recovery. See reports on the incredible work and leading sustainable green effort made by Florida Power Light with their Waste to Energy plants. The plastic laminates have more BTU's per weight than coal.

As more people move to cities, food has to be available and the plastic tray, StandUp pouch and plastic vial will all find more uses.

Our PGS machine group of companies,  with several world leading technologies to make, fill and seal plastic packages is well positioned to take advantage of this new food pouch trend.

The Redi-2-DrinQ group which distributes spirits, cocktails and wine in pouches is getting some recognition and support from TV reality show personality Claudia Jordan. She is targeting the female segment and has commented that these StandUp pouches are safe in that rape drugs can't be added and secure in that no additional alcohol can be introduced. Of course they are fully sustainable and for example with 60 pouches in a shipping box require smaller warehouse and less transport on our roads.

Finally our wellness products company Penta 5 USA has introduced amongst several new products, the ground breaking MosquitoPaQ no-bite organic, no DEET or chemicals, non toxic range of products that confound the pregnant mosquito and prevent her looking for a blood meal. Just in time to fight mosquitoes as the Zika virus gets more attention.

Go plastics!

Relationship Marketing

All day long now it seems we receive emails, tweets, Facebook, LinkedIn messages and traditional marketing promotions to buy items. Sometimes it is just news and other times brand stories.

Branding is building a relationship with your customers by conveying a message that stands out or resonates. You create a relationship by delivering the product message and remaining credible.

Today we let social networking assist in doing the work for you. Thus you need a relationship building plan based on your product message and it has to be short, strong and repeatable.

What works today is the experience that people can have with your product. Show them the value of the brand and they want more.
So for example talking about the speed of a pouch machine is no longer important as is showing a video of a high speed system. A machine with endless pouches continuously moving down the packaging line says it all and a pouch counter in the corner confirms this. What really sends the message is a look at the waste bins and nothing inside means efficient, the presence of no labor on the line shows productivity and a video picture of easy cleaning wraps up the machine promotion.

We all know that messages and procedures presented in video has greater impact  and much higher retention than the written word. Remember the video must be kept short, sharp and standout. The relationship starts to build!
